About Newton Park Pre-Primary

Our Vision

To work together as staff and parents to promote the all-round development of our children so that they develop into responsible, happy and confident children who are ready to face each new challenge they meet so that they grow into responsible members of society.

Our Mission

In partnership, the parents and staff of Newton Park Pre-Primary School aim to:

  • Provide a safe, caring, stimulating and nurturing environment and learning programme which will provide a solid foundation for formal education.
  • Provide opportunities for children to develop socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually through play, exploration and developmentally – appropriate tasks and activities.
  • Provide a climate of accepted Christian values with awareness of, and respect for other creeds.
  • Foster strong ethical and moral values, respect, compassion and consideration for others.
  • Provide support and guidance and thereby assist each child to attain his/her true potential.
  • Encourage independence, creative thinking and resourcefulness and promote self-esteem.
  • Provide and enforce a framework of rules and consistent positive discipline to foster security, self-discipline and a healthy respect for authority, thus creating a happy child.
  • Encourage open communication and close interaction between home and school.
  • Secure financial well-being to maintain the best possible facilities and excellent standards by fundraising.
  • Be actively involved with and accept the school’s responsibility towards the community by encouraging co-operation and commitment from all.

Our School

We are a happy, child-orientated school that has grown for more than sixty years through the commitment and love of caring parents, educators and friends. We have degree qualified educators who strive to provide an environment that is creative and stimulating, encouraging each child to fulfil their potential as excited, forever learners. We recognize that each child is a unique individual who needs to develop at his or her own pace. We provide both teacher-led and child-led activities, focusing in particular on creative arts and music and movement. We especially know that learning through play is vital to a child’s positive learning experience and as such we have a large playing field and playground.

Although our learners leave us to start formal school in Grade 1, we believe we are not only preparing them for BIG school but working together with parents to develop the whole child and cater for his or her specific needs, preparing them for LIFE, ensuring that they leave as positive, confident, happy and enthusiastic about taking their next step.

We follow the NCS (CAPS) programme as laid down by the Department of Education. Our programme is informal, disciplined and allows our learners to explore, discover and experience as they learn in what has been proven to be the best way possible – through PLAY.
